Rules & Safety

Kvile offers two self-service waterfront saunas: a wood-fired sauna at the DNT Naustet in Nørvasundet and a fully automatic electric sauna by Devoldfabrikken in Langevåg.

When you book, you will receive a personal access code. We operate on trust and kindly ask all guests to follow these rules and safety instructions.

Use of the sauna and sea bathing is entirely at your own risk.

General Rules

  • The person who made the booking is responsible for ensuring these rules and safety instructions are followed.
  • At least one adult (18+) must be present throughout the booking.
  • Always sit on a towel for hygiene.
  • Food is not permitted inside the sauna.
  • Do not use the sauna if you are ill or have a fever.
  • Stay hydrated and take regular breaks.
  • Children and elderly guests may be more sensitive to heat.
  • Use the wall timer and take a break at least every 15 minutes.
  • Alcohol should only be consumed responsibly during private bookings.
  • Never place towels, clothing, or other textiles on or near the heater or stove.
  • Only use clean fresh water on the sauna stones. Salt water or other liquids may damage the heater or stove.
  • Please leave the sauna clean and tidy for the next guests.

Wood-fired Sauna – DNT Naustet

If you have booked the wood-fired sauna:

  • Appoint one person to be responsible for the stove throughout your visit.
  • The person responsible must be at least 18 years old and remain sober.
  • Light the stove using the supplied kindling and firewood.
  • Add firewood gradually to maintain a steady temperature.
  • Never leave the stove unattended while the fire is burning.

Electric Sauna – Devoldfabrikken

If you have booked the electric sauna:

  • The sauna is fully automatic and will be heated before your booking begins.
  • Do not disconnect the power supply or attempt to operate or modify the electrical system.
  • Do not cover the heater or place any objects on or near it.
  • If the sauna is not heating properly or you experience technical issues, please contact Kvile Sauna immediately.

Fire & Emergency

  • A fire blanket and a certified fire extinguisher are available in each sauna.
  • Familiarise yourself with the safety equipment before use.
  • In the event of a fire, attempt to extinguish it only if it is safe to do so.
  • Call 110 (Fire & Rescue Service).
  • Evacuate the sauna immediately.
  • Ensure everyone is safely outside and keep a safe distance from the building.
